The opening of the Veliki Kaštel Interpretation Center has been postponed until further notice due to epidemiological measures

Due to a large number of inquiries from citizens about the opening of the Interpretation Center Veliki Kaštel for visitors, the City of Makarska sends the following press release:

On 11th of November this year, the City of Makarska solemnly marked the completion of works on the Interpretation Center Veliki Kaštel, which was realized as part of a large project “Revitalization of cultural and historical heritage of the hamlet of Kotišina.” The project holder is the City of Makarska, and the partners are the Tourist Board of the City of Makarska, the Public Institution Nature Park Biokovo and the tourist agency TIP Extreme.

Only a week after the final conference of the project, the Civil Protection Headquarters of the Republic of Croatia received announcements of stricter epidemiological measures that hindered us in the preparations for the opening of the Interpretation Center for Visitors.

Namely, the entire layout of the Interpretation Center is based on a tactile experience, so each visitor is in direct contact and interaction with multimedia installations that are integrated on the floors of small square footage. Because in such area, respecting the epidemiological measures in force since 22nd of November, we cannot ensure the safety of our staff and visitors, we are not able to open the Interpretation Center to the public until further notice.

We hope that stricter epidemiological measures, along with the responsible behaviour of all of us, will soon result in a better epidemiological situation and that we will finally open the doors of our Interpretation Center to our citizens and tourists.
